Quick answer: Ten Pals hold Level 8 — the highest work-suitability level in the Palworld 1.0 game files: Renjishi (Kindling), Celesdir Noct (Lumbering), Aegidron (Mining), Orserk (Generating Electricity), Shaolong (Watering), Silvance (Medicine Production), Jetragon (Gathering), Bastigor (Cooling), Solenne (Handiwork) and Dandilord (Planting). Transporting tops out at Level 7 (Knocklem, Knocklem Ignis); Farming tops out at Level 4 (Dumud Gild, Sibelyx Primo).
The same way we rank everything on this site: we read the Palworld 1.0 game files and ranked all 299 Pals by their work-suitability levels (the same PalCalc dataset that powers our breeding calculator). Work suitability is the level next to each job on a Pal's Paldeck page — it decides how fast the Pal performs that task at your base, and a higher level is always better. There is no opinion in the rankings below: Level 8 beats Level 7 in every job where the game files say it exists.
One thing the numbers make obvious: worker tiers in 1.0 are hard. Level 8 workers are all endgame Pals — raid bosses, Wildlife Sanctuary residents and level-50 Alpha-tier spawns. There are no early-game shortcuts this time, which is why this guide pairs each best-in-job pick with how you realistically obtain it.
Twelve jobs exist in Palworld 1.0. For each one, here is the data-verified best worker, plus the runner-up worth breeding if you cannot get the top pick.
| Job | Best Pal | Level | Runner-up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kindling | Renjishi | 8 | Dupin, Flaracle, Jormuntide Ignis (all Lv 7) |
| Watering | Shaolong | 8 | Jormuntide, Neptilius (both Lv 7) |
| Planting | Dandilord | 8 | Lyleen, Ophydia (both Lv 7) |
| Generating Electricity | Orserk | 8 | Dynamoff, Solmora Lux (both Lv 6) |
| Handiwork | Solenne | 8 | Selyne (Lv 7), Anubis (Lv 6) |
| Gathering | Jetragon | 8 | Frostallion Noct, Hartalis, Starryon Primo (all Lv 7) |
| Lumbering | Celesdir Noct | 8 | Celesdir, Hartalis (both Lv 7) |
| Mining | Aegidron | 8 | Astegon, Blazamut, Blazamut Ryu, Knocklem, Knocklem Ignis (all Lv 7) |
| Medicine Production | Silvance | 8 | Bellanoir Libero, Lyleen Noct (both Lv 7) |
| Cooling | Bastigor | 8 | Frostallion (Lv 7) |
| Transporting | Knocklem / Knocklem Ignis | 7 | Dualith, Eidrolon and their variants (all Lv 6) |
| Farming | Dumud Gild / Sibelyx Primo | 4 | Beegarde, Foxcicle, Shroomer, Sibelyx (all Lv 3) |
Two jobs deserve a footnote. Transporting has no Level 8 Pal in the 1.0 files — Knocklem and its Ignis variant at Level 7 are the ceiling, which makes them the single most valuable haulers in the game. Farming tops out at Level 4, the only job capped that low; Dumud Gild and Sibelyx Primo are the best ranch Pals in Palworld 1.0, and nothing comes close to their level in this job.
A Level 8 specialist only does one thing, and your base has twelve jobs. The Pals that change how a base runs are the ones covering three or four jobs at high level — one multi-job Pal replaces two or three specialists and keeps your Pal count under the base limit. The data has clear winners:
Design your base around three or four of these and your Level 8 specialists become luxury picks, not requirements.
Here is the honest catch in the data: the Level 8 workers are all hard to obtain. Orserk, Shaolong and Jetragon are true-breeding-only in the 1.0 combination table — the first one must be caught wild, and any guide showing cross-species recipes for them is pre-1.0 and expired. Jormuntide Ignis has exactly two recipes in 44,850 pairings, including the Jormuntide + Blazehowl special combination. Astegon, at 104 recipes, is comparatively easy — Silvance + Fenglope Lux is the cheapest route, and the pairing doubles as your medicine-and-mining base crew.
The practical path most players take: build your production base on the multi-job Pals you can breed early (Anubis, Lyleen, Knocklem), then replace them one job at a time as you catch or breed the Level 8 specialists. Our existing catch-and-breeding guides already cover the hardest cases: Orserk (Generating Electricity 8), Jetragon (Gathering 8), Astegon (Mining 7) and Jormuntide Ignis (Kindling 7). For every other Pal, verify the parents in the breeding calculator before you start collecting eggs.
Work-suitability level is fixed per species — breeding cannot raise a Level 7 to Level 8. What breeding can do is make a high-level worker faster and more effective: merge passive skills like Work Speed+, Motivate and Artisan from both parents into the egg, and use the Cake economy to run the farm cheaply. Catch a male and a female of your target Pal, breed for the passives you want, and keep the best child as your base worker. Our Palworld Breeding Guide (1.0) walks through passive inheritance and IVs in full, and the seven breeding mistakes guide covers the expired-recipe traps that waste players' time on 1.0 farms.
Silvance and Dandilord are the two strongest all-rounders in the game files. Silvance holds the only Level 8 Medicine Production plus Level 6 Planting and Handiwork; Dandilord holds the only Level 8 Planting plus Level 6 Handiwork and Medicine Production. One of the two should be in every serious base.
Level 8, and it exists in ten jobs. Ten Pals hold a Level 8 suitability in the 1.0 game files — Renjishi (Kindling), Celesdir Noct (Lumbering), Aegidron (Mining), Orserk (Generating Electricity), Shaolong (Watering), Silvance (Medicine Production), Jetragon (Gathering), Bastigor (Cooling), Solenne (Handiwork) and Dandilord (Planting).
Transporting tops out at Level 7 — Knocklem and Knocklem Ignis are the best haulers in Palworld 1.0 — and Farming tops out at Level 4, held by Dumud Gild and Sibelyx Primo.
No — work-suitability levels are fixed per species and breeding cannot change them. What breeding can improve is everything around the level: passive skills that boost work speed, and IVs that make the worker tankier while it works. See our Palworld Breeding Guide (1.0) for passive inheritance.
Breed multi-job Pals first and add Level 8 specialists later. Anubis (Handiwork 6, Mining 6) and Lyleen (Planting 7, Gathering 6) cover your production and farming needs with cheap, repeatable recipes — then swap in Renjishi, Aegidron, Orserk and the other Level 8 workers as you catch or breed them.
