How to Get Astegon in Palworld 1.0 — Breeding Combos, Location & Fight

By Palworld Gaming Team · Updated 10 October 2026 · Palworld 1.0

Quick answer: Unlike the Legendaries, Astegon can be bred from other Pals in Palworld 1.0 — 104 parent pairings produce it, the easiest being Silvance + Fenglope Lux. Every Early Access Astegon recipe is dead in 1.0, though: Blazamut + Elizabee now hatches Pierdon. You can also catch the Alpha in the Wildlife Sanctuary.

Can you breed Astegon from other Pals in Palworld 1.0?

Yes — Astegon is the first Pal in this guide series that breeding can actually create. We checked the full Palworld 1.0 combination table (all 299 breedable Pals, from the PalCalc game-file dataset): 104 of the 44,850 possible parent pairings produce Astegon, plus the usual Astegon + Astegon true-breeding pair. That puts it in a completely different class from Jetragon, Frostallion and Orserk, which can only be bred from themselves.

The catch is that none of the recipes you remember work. The Early Access combinations still listed by older guides (Siliconera's list is typical) all hatch something else in the 1.0 data:

Palworld 1.0 (10 July 2026) rewrote the entire combination table, so any Astegon recipe written before that date should be treated as expired. The 104 working pairs are listed in full on Astegon's Paldex page, and you can test any pair in seconds with the breeding calculator before spending Cake on it.

What are the easiest Astegon breeding combinations in 1.0?

Ranked by combined parent rarity (the same order our calculator uses, easiest first), the front of the queue looks like this:

Two caveats. "Easiest" means lowest parent rarity, not lowest effort: Silvance itself is a strong late-game Pal (breeding rank 80, Medicine Production 8 — the best in the game), so if you do not own one, the Roujay pairs may be faster in practice. And all 104 pairs are equal once the egg is made — the child is always Astegon; parents only affect which passives and IVs can pass down. Our Palworld Breeding Guide (1.0) covers that inheritance.

Where is Astegon in Palworld 1.0?

If you would rather catch one, 1.0 moved the fight. Sportskeeda's list of Alpha boss locations changed in the 1.0 update records Astegon leaving its old Mount Obsidian spot (around -614, -429) for the Wildlife Sanctuary (listed at approximately -689, -110). Gamerfuzion's 1.0 Astegon build guide describes the same fight as a level 55 Field Alpha in the No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary, reached by flying north-west from the Ruined Fortress City fast-travel point, and Nerdschalk's 1.0 location guide routes you to a sanctuary cave entrance from the Isle of Silence side, at roughly -676, 115.

Most search results still give the Early Access address — the Destroyed Mineshaft north-west of Mount Obsidian Midpoint (around -585, -422, per VG247 and TheGamer). That was correct before 1.0. On a 1.0 save, follow the sanctuary routes above, and expect a level 55 fight, not the old level 48 one.

How do you beat and catch Astegon?

Astegon is a Dark/Dragon-type, Paldeck No. 158 in the 1.0 game-file data, at breeding rank 490 and rarity 9, with 125 Attack, 100 HP and 125 Defense. The 125 Attack ranks 26th of all 299 Pals, and the 125 Defense is the real problem in the catch fight: it is one of the bulkiest Dragon-types you can throw spheres at, so the fight is a war of attrition, not a burst window.

Typing gives you clean answers. Dragon is weak to Ice and Dragon; Dark is weak to Dragon. An Ice attacker pressures the Dragon half without taking super-effective damage back, while a Dragon attacker hits both halves but is itself weak to Astegon's Dragon skills — the classic glass-cannon trade. Bring your best spheres (this is endgame territory; the 1.0 catch guides recommend top-tier spheres for sanctuary Alphas), chip it down carefully, and recall your Pal before the final throws so a stray high-damage skill does not knock out the catch you have spent ten minutes weakening.

Astegon also hatches from Huge Dragon Eggs, but that pool is shared with many other Dragon Pals — a lucky bonus, never a plan. The deterministic routes are the 104 breeding pairs above and the sanctuary Alpha.

What is Astegon good for in Palworld 1.0?

For the full data-ranked picture, our Best Pals in 1.0 page ranks every job and the top combat Pals from the same game files.

How do you breed more Astegon once you have one?

Breed two Astegon together — same-species pairs always produce that species — to merge the best passives from both parents and generate spares for the Pal Essence Condenser. Astegon also works as a parent toward high-rarity children such as Anubis (with Blazamut) and Knocklem (with Panthalus), so a well-bred Astegon keeps paying rent after your mining line is staffed. Plan the chain on the breeding calculator rather than discovering it one Cake at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What two Pals make Astegon in Palworld?

104 pairings do in Palworld 1.0. The easiest by parent rarity is Silvance + Fenglope Lux, followed by Elgrove Cryst + Roujay, Pierdon Cryst + Roujay and Tetroise Primo + Splatterina. Astegon + Astegon also works. All 104 are listed on Astegon's Paldex page.

Do the old Astegon breeding recipes still work?

No. Every widely listed Early Access recipe now produces a different Pal in the 1.0 combination table — Blazamut + Elizabee gives Pierdon, Cryolinx + Grizzbolt gives Braloha, Pyrin Noct + Suzaku gives Bakemi, and Blazamut + Reptyro gives Gildane. Only use recipes verified against 1.0 data.

Where exactly is Astegon in Palworld 1.0?

1.0 moved it. Sportskeeda's 1.0 Alpha-location list places Astegon in the Wildlife Sanctuary (approximately -689, -110); Gamerfuzion's 1.0 guide describes a level 55 Field Alpha in the No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary reached by flying north-west from Ruined Fortress City, and Nerdschalk routes to a sanctuary cave from the Isle of Silence (roughly -676, 115). The Destroyed Mineshaft spot (-585, -422) in older guides is the pre-1.0 location.

What are Astegon's stats in Palworld 1.0?

From the 1.0 game files: Paldeck No. 158, breeding rank 490, rarity 9, with 125 Attack (26th of 299 Pals), 100 HP, 125 Defense, Mining level 7 (joint-second-best in the game; only Aegidron's level 8 is higher) and Handiwork level 3.

Is Astegon better caught or bred?

Bred, for most players. The sanctuary Alpha is a level 55 fight on 1.0 saves, while breeding pairs like Silvance + Fenglope Lux produce Astegon deterministically at base — and bred offspring let you choose which passives pass down. Catch the Alpha if you want the boss fight and a strong first parent.
