Sulfur is an important thing you need in the Palworld game. It is used to make gunpowder. Gunpowder makes your guns and explosive weapons work. Without sulfur, your guns won’t shoot! This elusive material is the secret ingredient for crafting gunpowder – the fuel that powers all of your explosive weapons from muskets to rocket launchers.
But finding and harvesting Sulfur isn’t as simple as defeating Pals (the strange inhabitants of Palworld). It requires some exploration, material gathering, and even a bit of base building. Don’t worry though, I’m here to walk you through mastering the art of Sulfur mining, step-by-step. Let’s get explosive!
Where To Find Sulfur In Palworld?
So where do you find sulfur? It is not easy. Sulfur does not drop from defeated enemies you fight. Instead, you have to find and mine sulfur from special rock deposits.
These sulfur rock deposits look a little green and yellow. They stand out from regular gray rocks. The best places to find lots of sulfur deposits are:
The Volcano Regions
- Mount Obsidian and areas around the Eternal Pyre Tower are essentially the Sulfur mines of Palworld. Deposits are plentiful here, but the environment is scorchingly hot, requiring heat-resistant gear.
The Desert
- Known as the Twilight Dunes, this sandy region in the northern area of the map (around coordinates -160, -114) has decent Sulfur scattered about.
Dungeons
- You can find the occasional Sulfur node inside the cave-like dungeons that are tucked into the landscapes of Palworld, but this isn’t the most efficient source.
The volcano areas have the most sulfur overall. But the desert is a good starting place when you are new. These Sulfur deposits tend to be concentrated in a few key areas of the Palworld map
My recommendation? Make the volcanic areas your primary Sulfur farm once you have the proper equipment and Pals to handle the extreme heat. The desert is a good starting point for beginners, however.
What Tools You Need
You can’t just hit the sulfur rocks with your hands or basic tools. You need:
A Metal Pickaxe This is a must-have tool that will allow you to actually harvest Sulfur by breaking apart the deposits. Don’t try using the basic Stone Pickaxe, as it’s painfully slow.
To craft a Metal Pickaxe, you’ll first need to build a High Quality Workbench (unlocked at Technology Level 9). This requires materials like:
- 15 Ingots
- 50 Wood
- 10 Nails
Then you can make the Metal Pickaxe itself using 15 Stone, 20 Wood, and 5 Ingots.
Heat Resistant Gear Those volcanic areas are brutally hot, so you’ll want to craft some heat-resistant armor and accessories before venturing there. Options include:
- Tropical Outfit
- Heat Resistant Pelt Armor
- Other heat protection from higher-level recipes
A Flying Mount Having a fast aerial mount like a Pegasoar will be immensely helpful for scouting Sulfur deposits from the air and quickly traveling between them once spotted.
Bringing the Right Pals
Of course, you won’t be mining Sulfur all alone – you’ll want to bring along some trusty Pal companions to make the job easier. Two Pal skills are particularly useful:
Mining Unsurprisingly, Pals with a high Mining skill stat will be able to harvest Sulfur more quickly and efficiently when assigned to the task. Top contenders include:
- Digtoise: This turtle-like Pal has the incredibly convenient “Drill Crusher” skill that lets it spin and smash apart deposits automatically once you give the command.
- Incineram: A fiery Pal well-suited for the volcanic regions, with strong Mining abilities.
Transporting While not mandatory, having some Pals with the Transporting skill can save you the hassle of running materials back-and-forth between your base and the mining site. They’ll automatically cart resources for you.
Setting Up Mining
There are two main ways to mine sulfur:
With the necessary gear, tools, and Pals prepared, you have two main options for setting up your Sulfur mining operation:
- Build a Dedicated Mining Outpost The most self-sufficient approach is to construct an outpost base right beside a dense cluster of Sulfur deposits (the volcanic areas work great). From this mining hub, you can:
- Assign specialized Mining and Transporting Pals to work schedules
- Build storage facilities to stockpile resources
- Provide your miners with all necessary amenities
- Fast Travel Mining Run If you don’t want the hassle of building an entire base, you can always do quick extraction runs by fast traveling to a Sulfur-rich area like Mount Obsidian. With the coordinates from this guide, you can beeline straight to dense deposits, quickly fill your pockets, then fast travel back to your main base to unload.
Regardless of which approach you take, having a flock of miners with the right skills and tools will allow you to amass huge stockpiles of Sulfur in no time.
The Payoff: Explosive Ammunition
Once you have a solid supply of Sulfur coming in, the real fun begins – using it to produce Gunpowder, and in turn, ammunition for all those high-powered firearms you’ve been itching to let loose.
The gunpowder crafting process is refreshingly simple:
1 Sulfur + 1 Charcoal = 1 Gunpowder
From there, you can load up rifles, muskets, blunderbusses – maybe even work your way up to the mighty Rocket Launcher if you farm enough resources.
Who’s Ready to Bring the Boom?
There you have it, survivors – a comprehensive walkthrough on how to become a master Sulfur miner in the world of Palworld. By knowing where to look, gearing up properly, and managing a crew of skilled Pal miners, you’ll be swimming in enough explosive resources to raise hell all across this quirky landscape.
So pin those hot Sulfur locations on your map, stock up on pickaxes and heat resistance gear, and prepare to reign fire from the skies. The biggest bombs in Palworld await!
