Where To Find Coal In Palworld?

Hey miners! If you’re playing Palworld and finding yourself short on coal, you’ve come to the right place. As one of the key resources needed for crafting carbon fiber and other late-game recipes, coal becomes an absolute must-have material.

But never fear, I’ve got the insider tips on the best places to load up on this black gold. Strap on your pickaxe and let’s get digging!

Where To Find Coal In Palworld?

Twilight Dunes

  • Coordinates: The Twilight Dunes desert near the center of the map is a prime location for coal. Specific coordinates mentioned include (-157, -92) and (-97, -120).
  • Best Practices: Wear heat-resistant armor during the day and cold-resistant armor at night due to temperature fluctuations in the desert.

Verdant Brook

  • Coordinates: For Verdant Brook, flying mounts are recommended due to the need for climbing. The coordinates (189, -40) are highlighted as a good spot.

Sacred Realm of the Winged Tyrant

  • Coordinates: Near the Sacred Realm of the Winged Tyrant Fast Travel point, head to the desert and climb the cliffs to find coal nodes.

Mount Obsidian

  • Details: Mount Obsidian has coal deposits, but it is a more dangerous area due to the high temperatures. Protective clothing is recommended.

Scorching Mineshaft and Dessicated Mineshaft

  • Pals: The Pals Blazamut and Menasting can drop coal and are found in the Scorching Mineshaft and Dessicated Mineshaft, respectively.

Tips on finding Coal Deposits in Palword

Here are some other great tips on finding coal deposits in Palworld:

  • Hot, dry desert areas are the best biomes to search for coal nodes on rock formations and in the ground.
  • You can also occasionally find random coal deposits inside dungeons, so keep your pickaxe handy when exploring those.
  • Two specific Pal monsters – Blazamut and Menasting – will actually drop coal as loot when defeated. Blazamut can be found in the Scorching Mineshaft southwest of the Foot of the Volcano checkpoint around (-436, -529). Menasting is in the Dessicated Mineshaft in the southeastern desert area.
  • The desert region just west of the map center is maybe the best overall coal mining area, with dense clusters around coordinates (-156, -93) and (-98, -119).
  • The (-98, -119) spot is fairly secluded, making it ideal to set up a dedicated Pal mining colony with miners, food production, transportation labor, storage, smelting furnaces, etc.

You can also find solid coal deposits around these fast travel locations, though you’ll need to hike a bit from the statue:

  • Deep Sand Dunes – Head west to (319, 498) for 8 nodes
  • Sacred Realm of the Swift – West to (189, -39) for 6 nodes
  • Sealed Realm of the Guardian – East to (288, -21) for 6 nodes
  • Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant – Northeast to (-125, -84) and (-96, -120) for 6 nodes each

Having a fast mount helps when mining at these far-flung spots. But that desert area west of center remains the prime coal mining territory in Palworld.

General Tips for Farming Coal

  • Mining Tools: Use a metal pickaxe for more efficient mining.
  • Pals for Mining: Assign Pals with good mining skills, such as Anubis and Blazamut, to help with the mining process.
  • Base Setup: Consider setting up a base near coal-rich areas and use Pals to automate the mining process.

Why You Need Coal?

But why are we even mining for coal in the first place? Simple – it’s a critical ingredient for unlocking carbon fiber around level 35 of the technology tree.

Carbon fiber is then used in a ton of higher-level crafting recipes as you approach the late game content. So if you want to craft all those awesome late-game tools, weapons, and gear, you’re going to need one heck of a coal supply.

That’s why the Twilight Dunes jackpot is so valuable early on. It lets you easily stockpile a huge amount of coal to fuel your crafting needs later.

Other Prime Coal Locations

Of course, the Twilight Dunes is just one of several great places to mine coal across the world of Palworld. If you’re looking to dig up even more of those precious black chunks, here are some other top locations:

  • Deserts: As a general rule, any dry, hot desert area is going to have solid coal deposits scattered around. Be on the lookout as you’re exploring these regions.
  • Dungeons: You can sometimes stumble across random coal deposits inside the game’s various dungeons too. It never hurts to bring your best pickaxe on a dungeon dive just in case!
  • Pal Drops: The fire-based Pal monsters Blazamut and Menasting will actually drop pieces of coal when defeated. But these are pretty high-level, nasty enemies – so mining is definitely the safer approach early on.

Best Desert Mining Colony

For my money though, the real prize is establishing your own coal mining colony. The best spot for this is in the sprawling desert just west of the center of Palworld’s map.

At around coordinates (-156, -93) and (-98, -119), you’ll find two particularly dense clusters of coal deposits that are just perfect for mining operations.

I’d recommend focusing on the (-98, -119) area. It’s a bit more secluded, giving you plenty of space to construct housing, food sources, chests, a Palbox, and all the other support structures a mining pal colony needs.

You’ll want a crew of dedicated Pal miners with at least level 2 in the mining skill. Supplement them with some food producers tending berry plantations, a pal or two handling coal transportation and unloading it into storage chests, maybe even a smelter operating the furnace.

It takes some initial effort, but getting an operation like this fully autonomous is a total game-changer. Just check in periodically to restock supplies and collect your hard-earned coal!

There’s plenty more where that came from in our ever-expanding Palworld strategy guide. We’re digging up all the best tips and strats to make your mining, crafting, and Monster Pal battling as efficient and fun as possible.

So keep exploring that alien world, tame some awesome new Pals, and stock up on plenty of coal and other resources! The late-game awaits.
